Messenger is one of the 4 books written by Lois Lowry in the Giver Quartet. It is about a boy named Matty and a village that welcomes everyone, until one day. Village would be then cut off to any outsiders, and Matty, as one of the few who can travel through the forbidden forest, has to go in a journey to bring Kira to her father who’s in the Village, Seer. But afterwards the forest starts to become dangerous to Matty too. This particular book from the series is special to me, because the ending makes you want to read the whole thing again. The book is about simple things at first, like gaming machines, but then you would finish it with a heavy feeling inside of you. The whole book is simply a “hook” to me.
